Commercial piping services
Commercial plumbing systems typically take a real beating compared to residential systems. Year after year, this beating can wear pipes down. For pipes that have not been properly maintained, repairs and replacement are the norm. In fact, some piping, especially those associated with gas, can become unsafe if not regularly inspected.
Clients who want to ensure that their pipes are functional and safe count on VFP Plumbing to perform regular inspections to maintain them, reducing the risk of leaks and prolonging the life of the piping and the plumbing system as a whole.
We can also assist in fabricating and installing complex piping solutions. Here are just a handful of plumbing and piping services we offer:
- Copper, PVC, steel and PEX piping
- Piping for heated or chilled water
- Waste lines
- Vent lines
- Brazed, grooved, welded, soldered and pro-press pipe joining technology
As part of our unobtrusive inspection service, we bring a video camera in to look deep into the system to identify problem areas that might not otherwise reveal themselves until it’s too late.
Repair and replacement of leaking water pipes and drains
Our wide inventory of piping materials allows us the luxury of working on a variety of projects, quickly and efficiently. When a leak occurs it’s usually an emergency situation, and we respond immediately. If the job requires heavy equipment, VFP Plumbing has that at our disposal as well. It doesn’t matter how far away your business is from the water meter; we have the experience to tackle any repair and replacement project involving leaking water pipes and drains.
While most water pipe and drain installations utilize new, high-quality materials, many businesses have aging infrastructures that include galvanized and brass piping that has held up for decades but is in need of repair and/or replacement. Despite the antiquated nature of these materials, we’re able to repair or replace these pipes as required.
Natural gas line repair and installation services
While natural gas is a convenient form of energy for heating spaces and water, gas piping can present challenges due to its flammable nature and potential for explosions due to buildup. It’s vital that only qualified professionals carry out any installation, repair and maintenance work related to gas lines.
Gas leaks present a huge danger to those inside a structure as well as in the surrounding area. Leaks occur for many reasons, from faulty installation to physical bumping. Regardless of the cause, immediate action is required in the event of a leak.
At VFP Plumbing, we have the technology to detect leaks and the expertise to remedy issues effectively. Our team of gas leak experts will handle any size leak, large or small. Furthermore, VFP Plumbing piping specialists can install solutions for any applications requiring natural gas in a commercial building.
Our gas pipe services include the installation of:
- Unit heaters
- Gas ranges
- Gas water heaters
- Gas Fireplaces
- Gas Dryers
As a note of caution, if you smell something similar to rotten eggs or sulfur it could be a natural gas leak. Evacuate the building, call 911 and contact your natural gas service provider immediately. Then, call VFP Plumbing to inspect the leak and make the necessary repairs.

Preventing frozen pipes
Winter temperatures in Chicagoland reach frightening lows, which means commercial frozen pipe issues are common when the mercury dips below freezing. One way to prevent a frozen pipe emergency is to let a faucet open enough to trickle, which keeps a constant flow of comparatively warm water running through the pipes.
Making sure the heat is set to an adequate temperature, especially when the building is unoccupied, is also important in maintaining the integrity of the water pipes. Always know where you water main is in case all your efforts don’t pay off and you need to act quickly to prevent burst pipes from flooding the building.
VFP Plumbing has a much more advanced method of preventing frozen pipes, including automatic shutoff technology that will discontinue the flow of water when a leak is detected. Activation inputs give us the ability to improve the security notification systems, resulting in a “smart” solution that sends alerts to those who need to take action.
Should power fail, our systems utilize a battery backup that ensures that any emergency situation is detected.
Copper pipe repair
Copper is an extremely common pipe material used in a number of industries for plumbing systems. Copper, though durable, can develop pinhole leaks as it ages. Rather than replace an entire system, VFP Plumbing has the expertise to repair copper pipes and place monitoring systems throughout a commercial building’s lines to ensure that future problem areas are caught before the issue gets out of hand.
Chloramines, compounds containing a mixture of chlorine and ammonia that extend the disinfecting power of chlorine in drinking water, can corrode the interior surfaces of copper pipes, resulting in pinhole leaks that can damage a commercial property. Copper piping can also be damaged if it comes into contact with other types of metal; for example, galvanic corrosion can occur through a process known as electrolysis when copper contacts steel.
At VFP Plumbing, we know how to work with copper pipes and ensure that these common mishaps never happen with your plumbing.
